Passion for Furniture
Our passion for furniture has developed over generations through ownership of antique stores and traveling the world to explore the history of furniture. Through our journey we can identify historical origins and general timelines of manufacturing. From Baroque, Duncan fyfe, Queen Anne, Rococo, William & Mary, Chippendale, Hepplewhite, Sheraton to Louis XV. All lay claim to a specific time in our history. It brings us great joy to restore and extend these timeless designs into the next generation.
The process
All finished furniture is stripped of its old lacquer/paint by hand. We do this with the utmost care to maintain the pieces integrity
We then proceed with any repairs that are needed on the piece. e.g. bubbling veneers, broken spindels, cracks, etc.
After repairs have been made the preparation phase begins. The naked wood is sanded to even out blemishes and scratches.
We like to invite all our customers to our location to be involved in the colour selection process. We can customize new colours or match existing.
Finally, finishing begins. All pieces are coated with multiple layers of lacquer to build up the finish to provide durability and a beautiful satin finish..
